"Generation X" Responds to Thinkingby Jeff D., Ft. Lauderdale, FL
Thank you for a refreshingly lucid and meaningful bit of literary introspection about the wondrous activities of the mind, when it happens to be active! Yours is a healthy attitude towards the thinking process and, thus, of the self which engages in thought. I have and am cultivating the skills necessary to be in thoughtful focus as much as humanly possible, which I believe to be 100% of waking time, and then some (I have recently discovered that even dreams can be a place to reason, once certain subconscious garbage has been hauled away). However, being a member of "Generation X," I have been through a tormentingly "public" public school system, where realizing that "to think is good" is a step into the extra-curricular. I tend not to relate to my peers; the "twenty-nothings" of today wear their label proudly while ferociously claiming that it's not a label, but a meal-ticket. Apologizing for the length of this introductory correspondence, I wish only to say that if you ever wish to discuss ideas with a hungry, honest and competent partner, do not hesitate to contact me. Once again, thank you for making your article available to me online; I was intellectually rejuvenated and heartily surprised at once. Yours With Respect and Admiration |
